Still alive Aug 24

Life remains somewhat borked in my personal life. But the new reality is starting to feel like a new normal. It is not what I wanted, but it is what I have. I have not been working on this for a variety of reasons. Mostly related to the changes from this past three months.

I have made huge strides in making this house fit me. The upstairs is pretty settled. I need to move of the kids' stuff to the basement, but their bedrooms are set up, my bedroom is set up, the living room in general is operational. I know where most things are. I still probably need to do a kitchen/appliance/cookware assault to make sure I have one of everything and put duplicates in storage or replace things that got shifted to the other household.

The basement was put together at some levels, but it was not quite right. The guest bedroom was undone where I tore up the carpet to get rid of a cat stink. While the room was good to store things, I could not finalize some things while it was disassembled. Likewise, the DF, while all on a shelf, was not necessarily organized very well with some tubs mixed as a result of the move. Now with the relocation of the upstairs living room toys to the basement, the basement is a bit of a disaster again. The contractor comes this week (fingers crossed) to redo the floor in the guest room and the basement bathroom, which will allow me to reassemble those rooms and then focus on the toy placement.

All of that said, the gaming table has actually seen some gaming - Necromunda style with R and W. We did the first two tutorial scenarios with me arbitrating. Also, W ran some WH rpg for R, L, and I. It was theatre of the mind, but it was good to roll dice. The gaming shelves are organized with the priority games out where I can find them and the storage of the rest tidy enough to find stuff. The prepainted miniatures have been resorted, labeled, and shelved. I have all of the painted minis out of the moving boxes and into the carrying cases. That shelf is mostly organized, but I expect it will have some changes over time. I have managed to get through all the Dungeons DF and it is in great shape in terms of labels and shelves. Caverns DF is likewise in good shape. Ice DF, which is really a subset of Caverns is also done, although I am not sure about final shelving positions. But it is shelved for now. Underdoom DF is spread out over the table somewhat sorted, but I ran out of the 6.5 qt tubs I like. Lowe's stopped carrying them in the store, although they have them online - so another big batch comes hopefully this thursday, and I can wrap up Underdoom. The Mountains, Forest, and Swamp stuff is reasonably sorted, but is waiting on shelving based on what I decide for Ice/Underdoom. Cities and Castles are waiting on the guest room to settle to see where it makes the most sense to put them.

All of which is to say that hopefully by Labor Day, the basement will be fully operational and I may start painting again, or at least fixing the broken pieces I have found as I sorted minis and DF.

The guest room impasse meant that I actually got around to mowing yesterday. I dont know how much of the 8 acres I will keep mowed on the regular, but 4 hours yesterday and a thrown belt on the mower seems like enough for now.

And I have started taking more pics of minis. So new normal is new normal.
