The Mad Devil

This is a broad category that includes Lizard Men, Troglodytes, Ophidians, and Yuan-Ti as well as more lizard like things like basilisks, nagas, medusae, drakes, and, of course, snakes.

 

 I have had a fascination with the concept of a precursor race of snakey planet rulers in my games for a while.  I think it probably stems from Howard's depiction of ancient Set in the Conan books.  Various source books for Arcanis and even the Forgotten Realms have had wonderful descriptions of such ancient snake eras.  I don't put it in every campaign, but I do like the concept.  It does not hurt that DF has a specific snakey temple set.

Other random aside was a PC of mine who was a dwarf ranger who hated snakes and snakey things.  And of course the campaign focused on snakey things.  I think a sewer crocodile ate him.
