As I have said, this is the first miniature I ever painted. I had three paints. Mud, troll green, and dragon red. I did not know much about color theory. I originally had it on one of my cardboard squares, but time eventually caught up to it. By that time, D&D 3E had come out and defined with greater specificity that a troll was a large creature and took up a 2"x2" square space, so I put it on a 2"x2" square base. Scale creep is definitely an issue as this mini looks tiny on this "large" base.

I also, at some point, did come back and touch him up a little so that the sloppy eyes and sloppy hair were not quite so bad. Still garish and not at all good, but not quite as bad as bad can be.

I also, at some point, managed to get another set of minis corresponding to this box. I don't recall if I got them in the original yellow box or loose, but, either way, I had a chance to repaint this fellow, which I did. That is the second row, where I moved away from the red hair and tried to give the flesh some highlights by distinctly painting the warts and such. It is still such a rudimentary miniature that there is not too much that can be done with just the sculpt.

Grenadier, 2010 Denizens of the Swamp, F: Troll; Sculpt (c) 1980; sculptor unknown.

As with all of these, I make no claim to the copyright of the orignal sculpt, just the paint job unless otherwise noted.
