First Build at Davengard

In March 2026, the family acquired a parcel of land and a house in Johnston Co., NC. The family moved from the cottage in Selma to the new house and I moved out of Davendell to the new house in mid-March.

Even though the house was larger than Ring Place, it had a configuration that was not well-suited for all of us to coexist in the manner to which we had become accustomed in Ring Place and with the new habits we had formed in the year of living in separate houses. So, despite initial optimism which caused me to bring all my DF into the new basement and try to figure out where it would live, it soon became apparent that it just would not work.

So, the dwarvenite went to the outside shed and the resin got dense packed in the basement with an expectation that it would effectively remain in storage until we moved or expanded the house.

Enter additional shenanigans, and suddenly, I was in sole possession of the house and had more freedom to arrange the house as I desired. So, in July and August 2026, I was finally able to get my DF back into the house and accessible to start using it again. I am not sure the cost was worth it, but having paid the cost, I set about taking advantage of the new reality.

July 30, I was finally able to throw some stuff out on the table as a build. The kids and I played rescue the pig with the build. I had some happy.

I have posted elsewhere pictures of my storage techniques. My love for Hefty(R) storage tubs and shelving remains a foundational approach for my continued storage of DF. The new layout necessitated some changes, but also gave me a chance to revisit some earlier decisions and break apart pieces that were previously grouped together into separate tubs or combine pieces into tubs that made more sense given likely usage.

These pictures were taken at the end of August, so there have been some changes and updates. But the first pic is caverns and dungeons. Vaulted, sinister, and basic caverns. The second picture is Erinthor, Mountains, and forests. The third and fourth are ice, underdoom, hellscape, space, fae and fall trees, and third party stuff (e.g., monster fight club, wizkids, necromunda). The second row is the various resin.

Cities and castles were still to be sorted. As of September 6, Cities is mostly sorted, waiting on a few more art bins, and castles is still be touched. But substantial progress.
